Celebrities used in Bingo Advertising

Unless you live under a rock you must have noticed Barbara Windsor popping up on your TV screens by now - or atleast heard her if nothing else. And no she's not advertising the recent ‘Eastenders' story line or the next ‘Carry On' film but in an advert promoting the Jackpotjoy bingo site that she is apparently the ‘Queen' of!

The rise of celebrity endorsement for bingo has become a really popular way of attracting new bingo fans and players. Knowing that your favourite TV stars featured on a site can tempt players to go and check it out and perhaps even sign up to the strong bingo welcome bonus.

What other famous household names have been associated with bingo?

Well big A-list celebs like Sharon Osbourne have also been drawn to promoting the bingo world when she teamed up with Gala Bingo- there are still bingo rooms named after her to this day. Foxy Bingo also introduced Katie Price (aka Jordan) in 2006 as their new celeb for the site with 4 bingo rooms made in her honour. 888 Ladies have dressed up the comedian Vic Reeves like a lady to be the witty face of their bingo site that is targeted at the female audience.

Why would this make you want to join? Well, okay maybe you wouldn't want to meet Barbara Windsor but often these celebs are involved in prize giveaways. For example the TOWIE star Lauren Goodger (and we are now scraping the barrel or using the word celebrity very loosely) teamed up with Foxy Bingo to create a perfume for bingo fans to buy and recently charitysite Bingo Giving had a dinner date with Kerry "why am I still deemed a celebrity" Katona up for grabs.

However another reason is that bingo sites are always trying to get rid of the stigma of just old ladies being the ones to play bingo in church halls so by putting a fresh face to their site it is one way of giving helping change people's perceptions. If the likes of Katie Price are associated with a site then it can't be that uncool!
